๐ Plot Summary
Set in 1348 during the first outbreak of the bubonic plague in England, Black Death follows young monk Osmund, who is torn between his religious duties and his secret love for Averill. When the plague reaches his monastery, Osmund sees an opportunity to reunite with Averill by volunteering to guide a group of knights, led by the stern Ulric, to a remote village reportedly untouched by the plague.
The village is rumored to be led by a necromancer who can bring the dead back to life. As the group journeys through treacherous landscapes, they face various perils, and Osmund discovers that Averill may have fallen victim to the plague. Upon reaching the village, they meet Langiva, a charismatic leader whose community appears to be free from disease. However, the villagers' hospitality masks a sinister reality.
The knights are captured and subjected to psychological and physical torment, forced to confront their faith and beliefs. Osmund is manipulated into committing a tragic act, leading to a harrowing climax that questions the nature of faith, fanaticism, and the human capacity for cruelty.
